I flew up to Cape Cod on Monday for a little R ‘n R before next week’s first stop on my national “Get Your Purpose” Tour.  As I was sitting and writing, I had some music in the background and the words of one in particular caught my attention.

Switchfoot wrote a song called “Dare You To Move.” I have abbreviated the lyrics for you, but I think it’s a perfect illustration of the spiritual struggle of where we’re at and where our soul is craving to be – the point in time just seconds before we make the decision to go for it…and dance with the Divine.

“Dare You To Move”

Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone’s here…
Everybody’s watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?

I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to run
Like today never happened
Today never happened before

Welcome to the fall out
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
Tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be

I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened

Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here

I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move…
